... love in the big city

As soon as we decided to relocated to the east coast, and I knew we would be living near New York City, I decided two things. 1) I would need to visit because NYC has so many incredible places I'd been hearing about my whole life (museums, art galleries, restaurants...) and 2) I would need to photograph weddings and elopements there. Obviously breaking into a well-saturated NYC market when you haven't ever photographed in the city before isn't the easiest thing ever - so I took matters into my own hands, and went to the city armed with these beautiful humans, Nicole from Good Vibes Beauty Co, wedding clothes from Julie Allen Bridals, and some stunning florals from The Dirt Empress, as well as a huge nod to one of my favorite stationary companies: Oblation Papers out of Oregon.

The Locations

We took the Metro-North train from Connecticut down to Grand Central, and from there hopped over to the New York Public Library for those quintessential elopement images on the steps. The alcoves, the sweeping grand stairs, and the Beaux-Arts architecture is so stunningly romantic urban that it's the perfect place for some photos. From there, we headed down into the subways - because transportation in NYC, even on your wedding day, probably will involve the subway system, and there's something nostalgic and captivating about the bustle of the moving transit cars and people through the tunnels of such a large city.

When we emerged, night had arrived just in time for a walk out on to the Brooklyn Bridge and images of the city skyline from one of the most recognizable places in New York. A brisk breeze kept us moving, and the other folks making the bridge crossing at night had fun talking to our bridal couple as we made our way across.

We decided to wrap up the night with some street photos before we headed back to Grand Central Terminal for a few dramatic photos inside, and a few night photos outside,
